Go for it! I towed my 66 Bus home from Decatur, Illinois to Cincinnati Ohio (about 330 miles) behind my 1992 Subaru Loyal in a 30 MPH wind. For those you not familiar with this car, it is a 1.8 liter engine. My 1.9 Vanagon definitely has more power than the Sooby. After this experience, I wouldn't hesitate to tow a splittie with my Vanagon, I actually plan to do just this when I find my next split window project! Good Luck & PEACE! John Baker

The tow bar is rated at 1200 lbs. The split-window bus would be towed on its own wheels using a tow bar that hooks onto the front beam. The trip is about 200 miles of fairly flat road. Am I crazy for even thinking I can make it? Chris. |
