Thanks to you all and your archived posts, I just finished replacing the thermostat on my '91 Westy (about 45 minutes at most) without incident. I now have mid-dial heat indication on my "meter" and nice hot air coming out of my heater...probably will get better gas mileage too. 10 mm open/box end wrench, a flashlight to see the back left bolt better and less than a cup of coolant/antifreeze. Very easy to move the top of the thermo housing out of the way to pull out the thermo. Satisfying to have that done. Next is the automatic tranny oil change to synthetic when the filter and gasket arrive. Thanks again. Bob Stevens '91 Westy
