Subject: Mixing Marvel and Redline?

Hiya all,

Every now and then, if I let my van sit for a while, she fires up and clacks something awful. I've fixed this before by dumping half the oil and topping off with Marvel and running until the noise subsided. Then I drained all the oil and refilled, replacing the filter at the same time.

My question is this. Is it a bad idea to mix Marvel and Redline? Say half a quart. I run Redline 10w30 in the winter and 20x50 in the summer. I've just never mixed synthetic oil with Marvel before and I'm wary.

Thanks,

Don Preston Seattle, WA '87 Wolfy GL ~Betsy the Mp3 Bus~
