<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV> <P>I have had mine for a year now. Overall a great awning. Initial set up had me scratching my head a bit, but after that it goes up in 5 minuites or less (really). The good is it's fast set up, you can move the van with it up (no poles to the ground), and it is compact. Oh yea, the burgundy also matchs my van perfect!</P> <P>The bad- Out of the box it does not handle wind well at all. My second outing I broke a pole from a gust of wind. The guy at shady boy(can't remember his name) was great. I measured it and he mailed a new one the following day. This however is it's biggest (and so far only) fault. Towards the end of summer I bought some "grommets" from a local camping store and installed them on the sides. I then took some line and staked the edges down. This seems to have solved the problem in moderate winds. I think I am going to invest in adjustabe poles for this summer for those really windy days. It just sucks having to take the awning down every time you leave because it's breezy! But without some mods. thats what you have to do.</P> <P>Honestly though I like it a lot, and it's a great design. I would recommend it. With the understanding it will need gromets installed (verrrrry easy).</P> <P>Randy Charrette</P> <P>87 Syncro weekender</P> <P>207,000 miles<BR><BR></P></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>&gt;From: Rob Cassam <ROBCASS@IX.NETCOM.COM> <DIV></DIV>&gt;Reply-To: Rob Cassam <ROBCASS@IX.NETCOM.COM> <DIV></DIV>&gt;To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM <DIV></DIV>&gt;Subject: Shady Boy Awning <DIV></DIV>&gt;Date: Tue, 22 Jan 2002 13:44:11 -0500 <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Anyone had good luck with this one?
