Go for it.  I  recently towed a second 84' vanagon with my 84' vanagon for a
distance of 60 miles using a towbar.  My hitch  mounts to the frame as well
as the tow hooks.   The entire 60 miles was full of  hills, with 3 or 4
really steep grades that climb for a few miles.  I kept the speed to a max
of 45 MPH.   I towed another vanagon once using a dolly under similar
conditions, and it felt much better.   Plan on taking your time and keep an
eye on all your linkage.   Flat road should be a piece of cake.
