I have towed a Vanagon 500 miles using a Reese towbar rated at 5,000 lbs. Don't turn tight corners especially on dirt or slippery surfaces.

Yes, it sounds insane! Absolutely! And all I have is a tow-hook-mounted tow bar on my '85 Westy!

The tow bar is rated at 1200 lbs. The split-window bus would be towed on its own wheels using a tow bar that hooks onto the front beam. The trip is about 200 miles of fairly flat road.

Am I crazy for even thinking I can make it?
