Been there, done that..

3 years ago I towed a friends '61 Single Cab (for sale now) from Chicago to St. Louis behind my '82 Westy. It made it, the Westy survived but I won't do it again. Coming home up I-39 we caught a major storm just north of LaSalle. The cross wind just about flipped the entire rig. We survived it all but the engine in the Westy was toast a few short months later. I can't prove that towing the Single Cab for 700 miles caused it, but the stress couldn't have helped.
