Subject: Small progress on Minor Oil pump leak
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Well, folks,

I made some small progress with the top two nuts on the oil pump. I was able to reach a 13 mm open end wrench in there from the back and tweak it a bit with a pliers holding the other end. But not much torque in there. I may have to sacrifice a wrench by grinding down the sides but that will reduce the wrench strength which is not meant for that kind of torque.

Maybe the tiny tweak I gave those top two nuts will suffice. The next few days driving will tell the tale. I washed off the oil to clean her up and make future oil leaking detectable.

If anyone else has any ideas or has done this please tune in. My instinct tells me Stan Wilder, Mark or Ben have the kind of creative mind to figure this out.

What a lousy VW design for an oil pump nut accessability feature.
