Huh -- Bentley strikes again. Not to mention VW. Why on earth spend the $3 for the controller circuit if you're not going to use it? Anyway, the controller input has to be shorted to either ground or hot (between the two pins of the connector if they actually ran the wires back there) or else it will always signal an overheat/low-coolant situation. Controller is black box marked 43, inaccessible on wall above/ahead of fuse panel. The tall ones will peg the meter; the squat ones blink the light but don't peg the meter. I don't think they had the squat ones until at least '85.

Anybody have the wiring details?
