I'm not sure what you mean by "not engage".  Does the glass flop around
freely?  You should not expect the motor to turn just because you are
pushing on the glass.
  If you push hard enough on one side of the glass it will move a click
at a time allowing you to aim it crudely by hand.


...also when i select r on the mirror switch, i hear a click over in the
right mirror, but no movement..................have not looked for the
broken wires yet................is there a relay or something inside the
mirror itself that would click?

The mirror will click if you try to run it too far in any particular
direction.  There is a coupling that slips to prevent damage to the
motor at the end of travel of the glass or if the glass is jammed or
obstructed.

You didn't say if you had removed the glass (see Bentley) to see if
there is any obvious mechanical problem.
