Subject:      differences in front OEM vanagon speakers 80-87 and 88-'91??

is there really a difference in the speaker quality on the 88-'91 front OEM
speakers as opposed to the earlier ones?
the '80-'87 front speakers have that plastic perforated cover, while the
'88-'91 speakers have that black metal mesh cover and you can see the 'blue
dot" inside the speaker cone..  both are made by blaupunkt.  both sound like
sh*t.  but i just wondered if they made the later ones slightly better...
anyone know?
