I am trying to determine what gas mileage I should expect with my new 2.1L engine. The original 1.9L engine in my 84 Vanagon was worn out. I looked at the specs of the 1.9L and 2.1L engine on Vanagon.com. I noticed that both engines have identical specs: 95HP @ 4800rpm and 117fp @ 3200rpm. Is this really correct? I expected some additional hp with the slightly larger engine. It was interesting to note that the MPG for the 1.9L was 23 and 18 for the 2.1L. So if the output of the two engines are the same, why the different gas mileage? Thanks. -- William M.
