I'm looking at my Bently manual and heres what is say's for 86' and up vanagons (No mention as to different compressors: Evaporator-2.02oz

Accumulator-0.3oz

HP hose-0.3

LP hose-0.3

Compressor-5.07

Unless you are starting with all new EVERYTHING (hoses ect.) I would just blow out the system, put 5oz in the compressor (since its new), and another 0.5oz in the system. That way you are right in there. Parts like the reciever drier will hold oil unless you physically dump them. Thats why I say it's approximat unless you tear down the whole system. The system is not that finicky to within 1or 2oz. Just my opinion, thats how I did mine last summer, and it runs great!

Good luck,

>Swapping my a/c to r134, and want to add proper amount of PAG oil............following the vw tech bulletin to the letter here..........

>

>The problem is that with the 2 different compressors, there are 2 different amounts of oil................. mine has no name plate, etc on it, and according to the BD catalog, it could have been either. The reciever dryer is the type that has the fittings on like 90 degree angle from each other if that is any indication.
