Agreed. And right on to TankGirl about nice people. As for the rest, a harmless joke or two is one thing, but I sense and feel more than that behind a few of the "jokes."

Me veggie? Sort of. Let's say that for health reasons I've been forced me to radically change my diet. Now I can't eat most foods others enjoy, from coffee and beer to pizza and beef. So I eat a lot of low-fat, salt-free vegetarian recipes. If I don't, I feel like shit.

My point is lay off and be nice: you never know who you're talking to, and making an ass of yourself in front of. Might turn out the harmless joke means something else to someone with a terminal, incurable disease who happens to share a common interest with you. You never know what might offend, nor when it might be you in the same shoes.

Yes, I realize you have to have a thick skin in these groups. Grousing each other is fun. But there's a line. Rock on, those of you who also feel that making yourself feel better by making someone else feel worse is the height of immaturity.

Peace.
