Subject: 88 Vanagon (Automatic) Westfalia. Engine stalls when hot. (2.1GL

Hi All,

My 88 Vanagon 2.1 GL 2WD starts fine and runs great until it reaches opperating temperature, then it starts to idle poorly and will eventually stall. If I'm driving her I can feel the engine power dropping, but if I punch the gas peddle the engine surges and runs fine as long as I stay on the gas!

Any ideas? I've been through Bently and performed the sensor checks (as best I can with a multi-meter) all appear to be fine.

Cheers, Chris Gibbs Alaska
