Stan, I have an oil coller installed over the tranny, but I have not hooked it up (long story) One of the reasons is that I can't seem to find an acceptable way that I can run the rubber lines from a sandwhich adaptor to the oil cooler. Due to the tight space on the Type 4 air cooled motor, it looks like you are foced to route the hoses under the motor for a while . The optimum way, which is sometimes done Type 1's (don;t know if you can easily do on type 4's, i.e a kit) is to remove the stock oil cooler and run lines inside the engine compartment then out to the remote cooler. This would get that hot oil cooler out of the cooling air and away from the #3 cylinder, hopefully also minimizing the dreaded #3 valve seat drop! John R |
