I considered upgrading my 83 to later model cast iron (replace stamped
metal) lower control arms so I could mount 85 or later full floating disk
brakes.
I had a wrecking yard that said they'd set the 87 Vanagon on jackstands
for me and sell the whole shootin match for $150.00 if I took it off. The
problem was that the 87 had power steering and shorter spindle to rack
arms that would have made steering with my manual rack pretty tough.
