Folks, Considering building a "Center Console Cabinet" to fit between the Driver & Passenger Seats. Here are some potential design details: 1. Height ... slightly lower than seat pedestals .. so seats will swivel and access to rear area still possible. 2. Width ... about 4 inches narrower than opening .... clearance for seat belts latches and handbrake. 3. Length ... from back edge (kitchen area) to from carpet seam even with front edge of seats.
Construction Materials: 1. Frame ..... square aluminum tubing ... like Gary uses for his new Vanagon ladder. 2. Covering ...... louvered or perforated sheet metal for air flow. 3. Finnish ...... Black powder coating.
Equipment to be housed inside cabinet (back to front) 1. Plat Cat small heater facing back of van. First Equipment Stack 1. 2nd Optima Deep Cell aux. battery 2. Small hardwired battery charger/maintainer. 3. 12v - 110v Inverter (1000 watt)
Second Equipment Stack 1. Satellite Receiver 2. VGA to NTSC signal converter 3. Laptop 4. Car Safe 5. Perhaps a couple of small CPU fans for equipment ventilation.
Request: 1. Looking for feedback on compatibility of this equipment in one enclosure. 2. Any problems you may forsee 3. Improvements you can suggest. |
