I've run out of projects, its too cold to go camping and I let my 81 Westfalia restoration project go early. I'm going to install a 87-89 Mazda RX7 oil cooler on my van and do a little testing with it. The cooler is in the picture at the address below. http://williamwareagency.com/forsale/stanvan/rx7.jpg This cooler will be installed on an 83 Air Cooled Westfalia. The RX7 cooler has an operating pressure of 120 psi. It has a thermostat that opens at 148 degrees, prior to that the oil just by passes back to the engine. The inlet and outlet lines use a banjo bolt connection and 1/2" Intake and discharge lines. I'll let you know if I blow my engine or loose considerable oil pressure by using this oil cooler. The attractive thing about the cooler is that it is about five times as big as the stock cooler and should suffice in the 95 - 110 Texas temperatures we have here. With the thermostat it should work well in the winter and cooler months as well. If anyone else has used this cooler I'd like to hear from you.
