Scott,

Your van has two fan speeds. Does the High fan speed work? This should turn on when the temp needle is at 3/4 to 4/5.

Assuming the thermoswitch is ok, since it's new:

You should be able to short the connectors on the wiring harness to the thermoswitch. There are three prongs one of which is the fan motor input voltage. If you short the other two to the fan motor, you should be able to cause the fan to turn on. If there is no high or low fan, I'd suspect either the fan motor, relay or fuse. If there is no low, try the ballast resistor.

If you need to check the ballast resistor, it's behind the driver side headlight. It's a big ceramic resistor that is used for the low speed fan.

If this is ok (i.e. has resistance in range), check the fan relay(s) and fuses under the dash.

Wade

i believe my rad. fan does not work properly. new thermo switch( or what ever you call the plug in the lower right side of radiator, looking from front)i guess the problem is i never hear it running, i heard it once after i put in the new switch, but have not heard it for awhile. so i was wondering if anyone has advice regarding what/how i should check to make sure it is running properly. van never overheats...just trying to get ready for an april fishing trip to baja...thanks in advance
