I can speak only of the air-cooled, but would surmise that the waterbox is the same.

If all of your FI stuff is intact and in stock condition, the motor will not run with the oil filler cover removed. It will run horribly with a hole in the cover, with varying severity of performance degrade based on the size of the hole.

A hole there negates the crankcase vacuum created by the PCV valve, allowing a relatively free-flow of unmetered air to bypass the air flow meter, leaning the mixture, and introducing a large measure of crankcase gasses to the intake stream. Comprende?

Is it true that a hole in the oil filler tube will cause the engine to poorly?? Is it like some sort of vacuum leak??
