Subject: VDO tach wiring (1981 Westy)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I have one wire (from PO) that I goes back to the engine compartment. I assume it goes on the positive terminal of the coil. Can anyone verify this?

Also the speedo fix was appropriate (I posted last week) but didn't work. The little gear was cracked and I replaced it. But the problem seems to be in the trip odometer. I think it drives the regular odometer but is frozen. When I push the reset it doesn't seem to go all the way in (with ease) and reset.

Another gauge I do not have hooked up is the Cylinder Head Temp. There are two wires not hooked up in the engine compartment I noticed the sensor itself only has one lead so I assume it is a positive/negative (ground) situation. So do I splice the positive right into the existing connection and ground the other on the engine or chassis ? Then will that splice interfere with the existing connection that goes to the ECU ???

Thanks in advance for replies.
