Members of the Automobile Re cyclers Association are privy to the Trade Association Software. This software tells them how much to pay for a vehicle, the crush value based on net weight (bare bones body weight as if you'd have if you burned one out). Once the vehicle is in inventory they sell the engine and tranny off immediately as a core (they do hold some for inventory). As parts are sold from the vehicle the software keeps a running ledger on the vehicle and they can produce activity reports from a transaction database. The activity report will give them the following information, date of acquisition, return on investment, most popular vehicles they sell parts from, the most popular parts, the most profitable vehicles to inventory. The software even list the profitable parts that they should remove before crushing the vehicle. The software is linked to Metals Market and it even tells them when to sell, who is paying the most and gives them a list of member companies that will come to them and crush their cars, transport their cars or buy on the tonnage on the spot. I offer this information just to let you know that you should *get it while you can* when you find replacement parts for your vehicle in a wrecking yard. Just as a general rule I've listed aircooled parts you should always get when you can: #1. Any heater part. Heater Boxes, cables, flapper valves, ductwork. #2. * Heat shield above the muffler, exhaust crossover pipes or complete exhaust systems. #3. * Drivers side rear corner sheet metal (the one that is cut up when they install an AC unit) #4. Any good rubber or plastic part in the engine compartment. Oil filler tubes (NLA) #5. Any electronic part from the engine compartment, AFM, Control Module, Double Relay, Resistor Pack, Distributor, Thermo time switch and any injectors or cold start valves. #6. Window cranks, Inside and outside rear view mirrors (must be in very good shape) ashtrays, sliding door handles both inside and outside, other door handles if they have keys. #7. Turn, Wiper, Ignition yoke if the ignition has a key. #8. Rubber guides, mouldings from roll up front windows if its in good condition. Rear hatch gasket. #9. Seats, Door Panels, Arm Rests, Sliding door panel if you can get a set nice enough to upgrade a van. #10. Any hard to find accessory like dash cup holders, driving lights, instrument clusters with Tachs. Spedo cables, EGR Boxes, loud horn sets, ebespacher heaters (useless unless very complete). As for the Waser Boxers, I couldn't say but I think it would almost be the same list with some exceptions of sheet metal and a few other items. Good hunting guys.
