John,

Odds are, your existing diesel r&p ratio is 5.43 or 5.86. Here is what it will cost to upgrade to a taller ratio:

If you have an 091 trans (1980-1983, shifts off the side of the front housing), we sell excellent used 4.57 r&ps for $245.

If you have an 091/1 trans (1983-1991,shifts off the side of the main case), we sell excellent used 4.83 r&ps for $245, 4.86 r&ps for $295, and 4.57 r&ps for $395.

To do the swap you will have to completely rebuild your trans. Plan on spending between $900 and $1250 to do the job, including the cost of the r&p. This does not include taking the trans out of the vehicle and putting it back in.
