Joseph,

Check that the connector on the end of the wire is the same as the connector on the coil. There are two kinds: The old plain style & the newer kind which has a stud sticking up in the middle, inside where the wire goes into. Most likely you have old style wires & distributor cap, and new style coil. Unless you want to get into replacing the connector at the end of the coil- wire, make sure that the wire-set & the distributor cap match whatever kind of coil you have.
