it would involve cutting the entire roof off your van. in other words, its not worth it. the sunroof vans have a "double roof" in which all the sunroof mechanism, cables, tracks, raingutters, etc reside. it would make more sense to look for a sunroof vanagon. they are rare, but they do pop up from time to time. check the list or ebay. sunroof vanagons were imported from '80-85, and a few managed to squeak into the country in 86-87, (most opted for the a/c instead - and you couldnt have both) but after that you wont find any here. (unless its a grey-market euro model) ive owned 3 sunroof vans. ex '84 GL sunroof van (now owned by lister Tyler from philly and supposedly going to be chopped in half for a "stretch conversion a-la- Otmar" < ----somebody please save it before it's demise (just kidding tyler LOL ;<) ex '83.5 GL NINE pass sunroof van (rare van!) (now owned by Lister Tom Forhan who had it repainted and gave it a good home) and '84 Wolfsburg Ed. sunroof van WITH a/c (a/c added at the vw dealer before the van left the lot) with only 85k orig miles.. this van is currently "morphing" into a carat (fiberglass bumpers, alloys, carat interior, etc)
