My old one was beat to hell on the sides before I got it, and from a few of my misreads...My new one is clean. For what it's worth, I think it's pretty darned common. There used to be a VW shop here in Denver that actually had, on their price list, 'Vanagon Rear Wheelwell repair." $225/side.

Let's see... I have three vanagons parked out in my driveway.... Nope, not a single dent from sudden right turns. None look fixed either. Sorry to ruin your bell curve.
