Well, USAA Casualty Company (from Texas, like Enron!) has set the value for the totaled 1990 syncro westy in showroom condition with 35k miles at $9,500! This is based on their "independent market research company."

It makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over to know that they are looking out for my friend's best interest, and that our capable government allows this kind of rip off to happen thousands of times a day because the insurance industry has them bought and sold with gazillions in campaign contributions. Wake up, America!

The battle will begin in earnest when I get their "offer" in writing. Thanks to fellow listees, we are well armed and are going to blow them out of the water with our own market survey of roughly 20 recent sales and two professional appraisals.

Stay tuned.

And if you haven't sent in the stats on your recent purchase/sale of a syncro westy, please do. All of the results will be posted on syncro.org, with names removed for confidentiality (which is assured).
