Subject: Last Aircooled Vanagon = 1983 up to midyear
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

1983 up to mid-year. I owned one <full westy> for several years and loved it with the exception of the failing sliding door handle/cable, the incredible difference between 3rd and 2nd gears when down shifting, the sluggishness going up hill, the lack of air conditioning and one time buzzing of the fuel pump. It sounds like I am carping on it but loved the Westy kit and the wide upper and lower berths. I bought it at 23,000 miles at wholesale because the huge mega-Ford/Chrysler dealer didnt know what to do with it. I sold it several years later to an retired couple who took it all over Canada and up to Invinuk w/o a problem. You never know, I might even go water cooled someday... ;-0 !!!! -ellis\
