Jim- My van's an '81; I'm not sure how the aircooled/watercooled status figures into the equation as far as the conversion is concerned. Mine came with the 2-barrel setup (Holley-Weber 5200) when I bought it last month. It looks pretty simple; the carb intake is fastened to the lower intake with hose clamps and the linkage was fabricated by the PO. Works pretty well so far. Unfortunately, It has a hi-rise chrome breather on it, and the resulting clearance issue was solved (by the PO) by cutting a hole in the engine cover and bolting half of an old ammo box over the opening! Real classy. It also means I can hear the carb sucking air unless I turn the radio up...
