If your sender is a thermocouple (K type) the soldered joint will create another junction and that will affect accuracy. You should use thermocouple connectors made of the appropriate metals. btw, Canadian Tire in Canada has K thermocouples for $7.00 each. I've used these for all sorts of things including CHT, EGT, intercooler inlet/outlet etc. You don't need to buy the expensive Isspro or Autometer probes and senders, they all do the same thing.
