I have no clue if this is direct applicable to the T3 syncro, but would assume it is... On the T2 it was smart maintenance at about 150k to reverse the half axles, placing the driver's side HA on th passenger side, and the passenger side HA on the driver's side. This not only repositioned the wear surfaces laterally in the CV's, it also reversed the predominant wear 'side' in the CV' groove (the place occupied by the ball). Working through the CVs on my 90 syncro westy. What is the allowable movement/wear on the CV? I have a front inner totally clean, and can move the outer race about 1-1.5mm when I turn it against the inner race. Is this too much? tx, bmc :) "Faith will move mountains, but you'd better bring a shovel...." |
