Bob- You may have already checked these things, but make sure that your throttle position switch is doing what it is supposed to: continuity at idle and full throttle. Even after cleaning my switch several times, I still had a difficult time getting it to "open" and "close" properly. I ended up buying a new switch because the old one was just too unpredictable, only working about 95% of the time. Also, you may want to check the temp II sensor to be sure that your resistance readings are within tolerances as the van warms up. These would be my first two places to look for a high idle like the one you are experiencing. It's weird science at Bob's house. 1/ After an entire weekend of driving up steep hills to heat the engine up enough to get the fan to come on, no luck. The temp gauge stays at the LED so the engine does not appear to be overheating. Coolant stable in both tanks. No leaks or coolant loss. While continuing to "mess" with the idle (it's high-1200-1400) and cleaning the throttle valve switch and putting everything back together, for some obtuse reason I turned on the air conditioning dial about halfway. The engine cooling fan immediately went on! Whenever I turn on the air conditioning, the engine cooling fan comes on and the temp gauge is still in the low-LED area. Fan works, so maybe it's the thermoswitch, which I now have, but not installed. Seem reasonable? 2/ Idle is still high but not as high as prior to cleaning the TVS. Idle screw on the throttlebody does slow the idle slightly, but is set just above full "in", or turned right all the way. Any thoughts?
