oil pump with an oversized (melling)
--------------------------------------
Many very knowledgable VW people have told me that the melling is an all
cast iron housing and expands at a different rate than the OEM or other
aluminum housing pumps and causes the case to leak after a few hundred
heat cycles.
However all of that is mute since the only pump that will work on the CV
series engine is this pump that melling and nobody else makes as new.

This pump is $378.00 if you can find new old stock. Replacing the gears
is the most common rebuild procedure. If you will take note of the four
bolts in the pump, thats the key. This pump can be lightly machined and
rebuilt very easily.
I installed Porsche pump gears in my pump and get 55-60 psi at full
operating temp at 3300 rpms.
22 psi at full temp at 800-900 rpm.
Stan Wilder been there done that.
