Years back I had to prove the value of my wrecked '73 Thing in court.

I hired a professional auto appraiser. I think it cost me around $75, but he did all the research and came up with a list of similar Things which had sold in the past year.

He carried some association certification or such and is even available to testify in court if needed.

It may be worth the cost to be able to present an independent professional appraisal to the insurance company.
