Perhaps a different tank. After reading your post I searched Ebay myself, going back 60 days all the way to present, under every conceivable keyword (expansion, coolant, water, overflow, diesel, tank, etc. etc.) ...

Found a couple of expansion tanks (mostly used ones for $7 or $8). But not this one, at any price, either new or used.

Many of the later Vanagon tanks are only worth around $25 to begin with.
