His skylights are thicker than standard -- heavier gauge material. That means you have to bend the hinge arms a little so that the hinges are horizontal at the same time that the skylight is.

Pretty sure you have to unfasten the arms from the skylight to bend them -- it's been a few years since I put mine in. When you get it right, you should have roughly equal tension when sliding a dollar bill out of the seal.
