I am wanting to put a higher amperage alternator in this 82 vanagon.  First,
can it be done and will a Golf/Jetta alternator work.  They are 90amp.

Tim,
I put an alternator in a '85 Golf from a '84 Westy, it fit just fine, the
only difference was the battery connector, but that was easy to get around.
The Golf had a 60 amp and the Van's is a 90 amp. Now I have a 90 amp van
alternator on my I4 conversion,fits and works fine.
