Well,
On the two blowers I've succesfully done this to (one which was noisy, one
which had stopped turning), both were still working 2 1/2 years later.
I used a long spout oil can, and ran each blower for some time in between each
oiler session.
I should also mention that this was two succesfull blowers out of 4, but the
rejects were obvious after an hour or so of running (not installed)
