The Southwestern Ohio definition of winter: A season that comes around once a year, characterized by sudden dramatic climate changes, 10 degrees one week, followed by a week of temps in the 50's. Often accompanied by pouring rain or blowing snow. To celebrate this season, the Ohio Department of Transportation coats all roads and highways with a festive sprinkling of sodium chloride (aka: salt). It is believed this magical substance can make 1985 and older vehicles magically disappear right before your eyes, leaving nothing but a strange red-brown colored brittle substance.
