I can say that air cooled V.W.'s do infact have heat. The p.o. of my 86GL Is a retired V.W. mechanic with a beetle and 80 van as his daily drivers. When we are out I may not be sweating but nicly comfortable Here in Cleveland Ohio. The secret is to keep the cables adjusted properly All seals and gaskets in place, and proper tune up.The Heat is all part of the total car.
