Subject: Hall Control Unit and timing
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I was trying to use the process of elimination to find out why the engine won't start. I had an extra Hall unit off another '85 GL. Same make and model number on unit.

The swapped unit seemed to change the timing as in the engine turned over but with an occasional lag as if it were out of time. What significance, if any does this have.

Also, I hooked a timing light up to all the distributor posts (one at a time of course) and turned the engine over. I seem to have spark at each tower so I am presuming it is a fuel problem and not the ignition.

I am studying my Bentley and will drag out the multi tester tomorrow and take some readings. I did check the injectors without being hooked up electrically and the ohm reading was .16. Is this an accurate way to check or do I have to have the power connected?

I will check fuel volume, spay pattern, etc. tomorrow.

Thanks,

Walter Evens Hesperia, CA, USA 2-85GLs
