I agree---- ------------------------------ I had a 56 Mercedes 190 sl ........... what a dog. I took my screwing and passed it on. I had an 68 Eldorado Cadillac ........... what a dog. I took my screwing and passed it on. I had a 72 Corvette ......... what a dog. I took my screwing and passed it on. I had a 75 Toyota Land Cruiser .............. what a dog. I took my screwing and passed it on. I had an 80 GMC Diesel pickup truck ...... what a dog. I took my screwing and passed it on. I had an 81 Eldorado Cadillac 4/6/8 engine......... what a dog. I took my screwing and passed it on. I had an 83 Cadillac Sedan Deville aluminum block 266 cid ........... what a dog. I took my screwing and passed it on. I've still got a wonderful 86 Olds Custom Cruiser Station Wagon .......... great car. I've still got a great 83 Westy ........... I'm down $6000.00 restoring it ......... I'm a very sick person. I bought every one of these cars new except the Mercedes and the VW so it was the manufacturer that produced crap. None of the cars listed above has found any devotees to spend a life savings keeping them on the road. VW was producing the same crap ......... why not? Look what the competition was producing ! Things have changed now that VW has actual quality competition. I've heard the later VWs are very high quality.
