If in western Washington, you can use tap water for your battery and
cooling system.  Our water is so soft that until the introduction of
fluoridation we had the highest per-capita ratio of dentists of any
major metro area in the US.  The distilled water rules come from the
need to staty away from the 'hard water' deposits that we just don't see
around here.  Eastern Washington can vary depending on the location and
water source.
