There's no excuse for having poor heat in your air-cooled van. If your
heater boxes are in good shape, and you have a few days and a couple
hundred bucks, you can have heat that makes your eyes bloodshot, and
your hair curly. Our modified 1976 T2 took us through the November
blizzard of 1997 (Colorado & Wyoming) in shirt sleeves. No lie.

The easiest, cheapest, most effective change involves simply insulating
the main duct. This alone adds significantly to the heat.
