<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV> <P>I actually got stopped on I-70 in Glenwood Springs, CO. We were comming back from a weekend in Moab, Utah. We were going through the canyon which is a 50 or 55MPH zone and were stopped for speeding. I was speeding (65 or 70) and admitted it. However I also pointed out that a convertable BMW as well as a Toyota 4 runner blew by me in the canyon. Since he said he had been behind me for a while I figured it was obviouse that he "profiled" me. I respectfully pointed out the other vehicles that blew by me, and when my 2 dogs almost "nipped" him as he approached the open back window he took down my info and let me go with a warning. I was really waiting for him to ask to search the van. Then I would have been pissed! My wife and I are both very competitive bike racers and climbers. We would have nor have ever had drugs in the van! It is just a great vehicle to roll up at race venues or climbing areas&nbsp;and crash in the back. I'm getting fired up just recalling this incedent! It was BS. Anyone else ever feel like they were "profiled" for driving a VW van?</P> <P>Randy Charrette</P> <P>87' Syncro weekender</P> <P>Longmont, CO<BR><BR></P></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>&gt;From: Tom Naylor II <TOMN@DSLEXTREME.COM> <DIV></DIV>&gt;Reply-To: Tom Naylor II <TOMN@DSLEXTREME.COM> <DIV></DIV>&gt;To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM <DIV></DIV>&gt;Subject: Re: speeding ticket in Vanagon <DIV></DIV>&gt;Date: Wed, 20 Feb 2002 13:53:07 -0800 <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;[snip!] <DIV></DIV>&gt;The California CHP totally ignores me. <DIV></DIV>&gt;Even when I'm doing 75+ in a 65 zone. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;They zip right past me and get someoone else <DIV></DIV>&gt;ahead of me. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;I'm convinced that it would be too embarrassing <DIV></DIV>&gt;for the CHP to tell their compadres that they ticketed a VW bus! <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Anyone been stopped for freeway speeding? <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;How true! Even though I drive the Westy far more frequently than my other <DIV></DIV>&gt;ride, I've only been pulled over for an illegal left in Pasadena (watch out <DIV></DIV>&gt;for those puny signs and the ubiquitous motorcycle cops!) However, in my <DIV></DIV>&gt;little yellow 914 I've been stopped for all sorts of B.S. along with one or <DIV></DIV>&gt;two well-deserved speeding tickets. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Tom <DIV></DIV>&gt;'85 Nissan-powered Westy <DIV></DIV></div><br clear=all><hr>Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at <a href='http://go.msn.com/bql/hmtag_etl_EN.asp'>http://explorer.msn.com</a>.<br></html>
