Just a reminder for those with 2 wheel drive Vanagons that I have another option to the $800 dealer price...

I stock high-performance springs for the Vanagon, made by Boge, the original supplier to VW. These are rated to handle the weight of a camper but are also appropriate for standard Vanagons.

While Steve's springs slightly increase the height of the van (desireable for many Syncro owners), these springs will put your Vanagon at about the same height as a later model Wolfsburg Edition - which is just slightly LOWER than most non-Wolfsburg Vanagons and Westfalias. The difference is not huge, but it does give the van a very slightly squatter profile and also improves handling a bit. Also, they're just a tad stiffer, which again improves handling. All in all, I'd call them a "mild performance" spring, if that makes sense. Slightly lower ride, slightly stiffer, but neither to an extreme - they won't turn your Vanagon into a "curb-hugger," nor will they give it a bone-jarring ride. I've had them on my '89 Westy for over a year and been happy with them.

The price is $361 with listmember discount, for a set of 4. Part number 9878. They are available only from The Bus Depot.
