The number of BTU's you have at your disposal is fixed, but the thermal
losses are greatly increased.  It's the initial temperature, outside-in, and
final temperature, inside-out, of this little open system that starts your
nose to dribble.  And these things don't happen in a linear way either.


We could speculate about this forever; the only way to know for sure is to
sharpen up your ice scraper for the inside of the windscreen and head out for
Donner Pass.
