Following up on the link that someone provide to the new Vanagon site in Canada last night, I followed some of their links. I found one that caught my attention. I don't know if this has been common knowledge to the rest of you, but someone has scanned and then indexed in HTML what is apparently the VW factory training manual for bringing technicians up to speed for the 'new' model, plus a bunch of other Vanagon tech related stuff. It's a big ZIP, but I downloaded it and there seems to be a lot of good info. Considering the changes that were made in '86 and then carried on to the end of the Vanagon production, and some of the other info, it is probably well worth the time to download. One item I found that bugged me a little bit is a copy of the VW bulletin, sent by e-mail in 1984, explaining the addition of the special wiring harness addition to deal with 'Vanagon Sysndrome'! If they had the fix in '84, why wasn't it standard equipment from then on???? URL is http://www.whadup.com/index.asp?pageFrom=/stuff/Index.asp for the download. The new website looks well organized and with a lot of good links, both to good personal web pages and vendors. Loren A. Busch I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure that you realize that what you heard is not what I meant. |
