Norman, This could possibly be a dying CV joint. Sometimes they get noisy under load, which may explain why you're not hearing the noise when you depress the clutch. Good luck, Greg Stelz 86 GL to Westy conversion Columbus, Ohio ------------------- My 1983.5 water cooled 1.9L Camper developed a regular progressively louder knocking and vibration emanating from the vicinity of the left rear wheel. Which disappeared when depressing the clutch pedal and was not a permanent ailment. A close look at that wheel assembly and down through the engine access area revealed no obvious complaint. Any suggestions as to where I might look to find the source of this issue? Norman Owen Tomalin BRUCE COLEMAN INC. 117 East 24th Street NEW YORK, NY 10010 USA www.bciusa.com
